The Cumberland Central Landfill will be closed the following holidays:
Inspection and Enforcement Loads entering the Cumberland Central Landfill site will be inspected. Waste Haulers and Generators are advised that CJSMA reserves the right to reject non-compliant loads or portions of loads and to recover additional waste management cost incurred due to the improper disposal of non-compliant materials by Haulers and/or Generators.   Tipping fees For a complete list of tipping fees, contact the Cumberland Joint Services office.   Compost For Sale Compost can be purchased for $40.00 per tonne or $2.50 per bag.
New Year’s Day – January 1 NS Heritage Day  –  3rd Monday in February Good Friday – as observed yearly Easter Monday – as observed yearly Victoria Day – as observed yearly Canada Day – July 1 Civic Holiday – first Monday in August Labour Day – first Monday in September Thanksgiving Day – as observed yearly Christmas Day – December 25 Boxing Day – December 26
Facilities include: Second Generation Landfill Recycling Facility Compost Facility Construction and Demolition disposal area Leachate Treatment Facility   The Cumberland Central Landfill also accepts: Clean wood Asphalt shingles Scrap metal (fee for freon removal) Tires (industrial size) Leaf and yard waste Contaminated soil   A Septage Treatment Facility, which is run by the Municipality of the County of Cumberland, is also located on the site.   Solid Waste Disposal It is the policy of the CJSMA that all materials brought for disposal to the Cumberland Central Landfill are source separated at the time of generation.  Upon arrival of the Landfill, materials must be separated into the following categories:   (1)         Recyclable Material; (2)         Residual Garbage; (3)         Leaf and Yard Waste; (4)         Construction and Demolition Debris; (5)         Contaminated Soils (upon approval from Nova Scotia Department               of Environment); (6)         Friable Asbestos Containing Material; (7)         Scrap Metal/White Goods; and (8)         Compostable Material.
